Development of the Arundel area dates primarily from the 1980s, with rapid growth from the late 1980s. The population trebled during the 1990s as large numbers of new dwellings were added to the area. Since then, growth has been stable
Arundel is located on the Gold Coast, nestled amongst parklands and only minutes to the beach. It is neighboured by Biggera Waters (4.6km), which is located directly across the Broadwater from the famous Gold Coast Spit. The suburb is known for its creeks, estuaries and islands, as well as plenty of cafes and restaurants along its waterfront promenade. Arundel is also 20 minutes away from Southport (8km), the central business district of the Gold Coast and one of the city’s largest communities. The area of coast facing Southport is used for fishing, boating and water sports.
Arundel boasts a host of public and private health facilities. Gold Coast University Hospital (2.8km) and Gold Coast Private Hospital (2.9km) are both just 5 minutes away. Residents can also easily access Olsen Avenue Medical Centre (2.6km) and Parkwood Medical Centre (2.1km).
Bus route 715 (Helensvale/Pacific Pines/Arundel/Labrador/Southport) stops just 450m away at Stop 300619: Central Street near Allied Drive. This route can take you to the heart of Southport and services a number of destinations along the way.
